Levavet 10% sterile solution

Form of application: oral administration, Injection.

Active ingredient: Levamisole hydrochloride.

A clear colorless solution.

COMPOSITION

1 cub. cm of the preparation contains:
- 100 mg of levamisole hydrochloride.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

The active ingredient of the preparation - levamisole hydrochloride – refers to imidazothiazole and is a bioactive derivative of tetramizole.  The mechanism of action is blocking acetylcholinesterase enzyme this resulting in muscle contraction in, the paralysis and death of a parasite.
The preparation is useful against both sexually mature and larval forms of parasites.

USES

• - Cattle, sheep, goats: To treat diseases caused by both sexually mature and larval forms of gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes such as Hoemonchus, Ostertagia, Trichostrongylus, Oesophagostomum, Nematodirus, Bunostomum, Dictyocaulus;
• - Pigs: Ascaris suum, Strongyloides ransomi, Metastrongylus, Oesophagostomum.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not administer to animals of up to 10 kg in body weight, harassed animals and those suffered from liver and kidney diseases.  Do not administer to pregnant animals during the last three months of pregnancy.  Do not combine with any other anthelmintics.

PRECAUTIONS

Animals may only be slaughtered for meat in 7 days of the last use of the preparation and milk is fit for human food in 2 days.

HOW SUPPLIED

Sterile solution for injection in 10-mL, 20-mL, 100-mL vials.

STORAGE

Store in a manufacturer’s container protected from light at a room temperature. Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

By subcutaneous injection, subcutaneous injection or orally in the following doses:

• Cattle: 0.75 cm³ per 10 kg of body weight.

Maximum dose is 22.5 cm³ for an animal of over 300 kg of body weight. By intramuscular injection;

• Sheep, goats: 0.75 cm³ per 10 kg of body weight, by subcutaneous injection or orally;
• Pigs: 0.75 cm³ per 10 kg of body weight.

Starting from 150 kg of body weight, the dose is 3.5cm³ per 50 kg of body weight. By intramuscular injection;

• Poultry: 1 cm³ per 250 mL of portable water orally three days running; and
• Dogs: 0.5 cm³ per 10 kg of body weight orally.
