Norfloxvet 20% oral solution

COMPOSITION

• Norfloxacin: 200 mg;
• Solvent: Q.S. to 1 mL.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Norfloxacinum is an antibiotic that refers to fluoroquinolone; it has a well marked antibacterial action, and is more active as compared with norfloxacin and enrofloxacin.  Norfloxacinum is effective against diseases caused by gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms.  A semiexcretion period is between 6 hours and 7 hours.  It excreted mostly with urine (90.75%).

The primary properties of Norfloxvet important for clinical practice are as follows:

• Wide antibacterial spectrum;
• Activity with respect to polyresistant strains of microorganisms;
• Good bioavailability if administered internally;
• Good tolerance if administered orally; and
• Low percentage of undesirable drug responses.

USES

Norfloxvet 20% Oral Solution, an antibiotic of a wide spectrum of action which contains norfloxacin, refers to fluoroquinolone.  It is active with respect to the most widely spread pathogens of enteric infection and urinary tract infections - gram-negative microorganisms of the enterobacteria and staphylococcus family.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not administer to animals sensitive to the preparation (horses).  Do not administer to animals with their kidneys or liver affected.

PRECAUTIONS

In small animals, edema and pain reaction are possible in the site of administration.
Animals may only be slaughtered for meat in 8 days of the last injection of the preparation; poultry may only be slaughtered in 12 days; milk is fit for human food in 4 days.

HOW SUPPLIED

0.5-mL ampuls No.25; 1000-mL flask.

STORAGE

Store protected from light in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 20°С(List B).  Shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture.

DOSAGE

• Calves, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs: 10 mL per 75-150 kg of body weight orally.
• Poultry: 1 liter per 1,500 to 4,000 liters of portable water
